Verizon email problems

It has come to our attention that anyone on our email system cannot email anyone with a verizon.net, bellatlantic.net or gte.net (which are Verizon domains).

It is now confirmed that Verizon is blocking all international IP space from RIPE and APNIC and only unblocking IP’s when escalations are made. The security team management thinks this is going to stop their inbound spam problems.

We tried to speak with Verizon but since we are not their customers they would not let us plead our case. Fortunatley we have found a workaround for this problem and was able to send the registration information and support emails to Cocktail users with Verizon email addresses. However, we would like to ask all Verizon customers to call Verizon corporate offices at 1095 Avenue of the Americas in New York and lodge a compliant in Executive Escalations about this idea. Verizon Executive management really needs to re-evaluate their security management and team procedures again.

The first Mac rumor ever

From: Ron Fischer
Date: 21 Aug 1982, 3:17 AM

I have heard from a reliable source that there will be a SmallTalk-80 implementation for the Apple "Lisa". There is however some question as to whether it will be fast enough. This aside from the problem of what Xerox will decide to do with SmallTalk as a whole (sell it, public domain, etc.).

This lends weight to arguments that the "Lisa" will have a fabulous graphic display. I believe it was mentioned here that it is supposed to cost about $10k. This is unfortunately becoming a "market price" for workstations, i.e. personal machine of reasonable power with graphics display.

Anyone want to expand on the "Macintosh" rumor, that there will be a stripped down Lisa built for home use (or at the least be cheaper)?

Sources have said that Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs will deliver ten significant announcements today at 9:00 a.m. PST (Pacific Standard Time) when he will once again deliver the opening keynote address for Macworld Conference & Expo. This year, the keynote will not be webcast until a full nine hours later. It will be available for viewing at approximately 6:00 p.m. PST at http://www.apple.com.
